She likes it?

This is not the most recent of photos, but it was one that I downloaded before losing the camera.  Makena decided that she liked the papasan chair that she previously hated.  She only tolerates it for short periods of time, but here she has fallen asleep sucking her index finger.  I thought she would be an index finger sucker like me, but in the past few days she has discovered her left thumb which she seems to prefer over everything, including the pacifier.  Nanea sucks her right thumb and seems to be right handed.  Perhaps Makena will be left handed like me!  It would be weird since Nanea has Noa's blood type and Makena has mine.  I wonder how much genetics play in determining this type of thing...

Happy 3 month Birthday!

She just LOVES this zebra.  I got it for Nanea recently, but since Makena loves it so much, Nanea has gifted it to her.  What a nice big sister!

Wearing her cute tank top from Aunt Anne.

No idea how much she weighs, or how big she is since we don't have a doctor's appointment till next month.  Everyone tells me she's big, including Noa, but she doesn't seem that big to me.

She is truly the sweetest baby.  She is talking a lot now.  I'm trying to upload a movie but blogger just won't do it, so I'll try to do it through youtube.  She puts herself to sleep for both naps (still just cat naps) and at bedtime.  Not all the time, but enough that it makes my life easy.  I put her down and she complains a little and then she's out.   She's sleep training herself, without all the trauma I had with Nanea crying forever and ever.

I thought that I would try the pacifier this time around since I can throw that away eventually, but she prefers her fists.  Today she started sucking her index finger, just like I did as a baby (and kid, terrible!  why I needed braces no doubt...).  Not sure if she'll stick with that or move to her thumb eventually.

Big sister

This is actually how Nanea refers to Makena most of the time, confusing her role with "baby" sister.  I think this is the first time she has held her since she came home from the hospital, but she's been asking all day so here we are after dinner, holding "big" sister.  Makena loves Nanea, and smiled and talked at her the entire time.  Except of course when the camera was in her face.  When the camera comes out, she immediately STOPS smiling.  Anticipating the flash I think.
