BA2's room

new crib bedding (thanks Aunties Tiff, Dana, Sharyl, Tina and Yvonne!)

new window shades (with blackout panels!) that noa installed this weekend

empty closet with an "organic baby" onesie courtesy of Aunty Norma, Ikaika and Kaimana, since Nanea was their "organic" baby, BA2 will be as well.

So, Noa won the battle of moving Nanea to the big room (pictures to be posted on her blog soon)and BA2 getting her "old" room. I only conceded because less than a week ago Nanea started climbing out of her crib. She just appeared in our room one morning with 2 of her baby dolls and scared the heck out of us. So, I figured we may as well try the big girl bed. More of that story to come...

A very happy "un" shower to me!

After adamantly refusing to take part in any type of baby shower, my best girl friends decided I needed something any way so took me to a wonderful lunch at Macaroni Grill and treated me to a manicure and pedicure.  And also decked out BA2's crib so she doesn't have hand-me-downs.  It was much needed relaxation and girlfriend time, and now I won't be embarrassed about the state of my toes when I'm in the delivery room like last time!  Hard to believe, but I actually did feel embarrassed that I didn't have time (make time) to get a pedicure before I gave birth to Nanea.
On the baby watch front, I went to the doctor yesterday and am 2cm dilated and 50% effaced already.  When my doctor checked me my lst pregnancy, I was exactly the same stats, and she told me that she didn't see me delivering early and would go close to my due date (which was 3 weeks away at the time).  I gave birth 6 days later.  So, this could mean I'm due to give birth any day, OR I could still go a couple of weeks.  We will see!

Thanks girls :)!!

The Big Debate

So, now that Noa is finally home, and I am 35 weeks pregnant, we are realizing that we are way behind in the "nesting" and getting ready for BA2's impending arrival. Those of you that know Noa and I know that we have completely OPPOSITE tastes in just about everything, which makes decisions quite difficult. So things like baby room decor, furniture, NAMES are just impossible for us to agree upon. We end up (eventually) finding some middle ground and compromising.

So, the big debate of the last couple of months is whether or not to buy a crib for BA2, or just force Nanea out of hers and move her to a "big girl bed." Is she old enough? Probably. Is she psychologically ready for it? I don't think so. She is not climbing out, she likes being in there, and when asked if she wants a big girl bed, replies, "no, I want MY bed." We attempted to transition her by taking the railing off the crib (it converts to a toddler bed, then to a full size) and she did great for a couple of days, then realized she didn't actually have to stay in there so after turning on every single light between her room and mine, would end up in bed with me. Noa was on his marathon work trips, so didn't get to enjoy this. Her sleeping with me wasn't terrible in and of itself, but after a few days, this morphed into her coming into my room and then staying up for 3-4 hours, talking, demanding milk, and going back and forth between "mommy's bed and my bed," each time announcing it of course.

Everything I've read, and that people have told me, is to NOT make major changes in your child's life when another one is coming. So, my inclination is to buy another convertible crib and leave Nanea alone. Noa is fighting for the big girl bed AND to move her to the new room since it is slightly bigger and he feels she should have the bigger room. While I understand this in theory, we are way too late in the game at this point. I think I'm going to just have to put my foot down on this one.

On a happy note, we have started to make some progress clearing out the guest room to prep it for BA2 (or Nanea if Noa wins the battle). Here is the closet organizer Noa installed today. And, if you look closely, you will see that he also painted the room a really nice soft shade of pink.

Now if we can just get a crib in time...

Fabulous-ness

Tiff and I saw Sex and the City last night.  A last night out for me before my mom went home.  I loved it!  The clothes, the shoes, the characters, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.  There were lots of negative reviews, but for those of you that loved the series when it was on (and continue to watch it on TBS and DVD), you will not be disappointed.

It was a long one, but not in a bad way.  It was satisfying to catch up with all the characters, and of course New York City.  Gotta LOVE New York City.

It made me miss drinking and hanging out with my girlfriends.  Having kids will do that to you :)!  Just a few more months...

33 weeks

Today marks 33 weeks into pregnancy #2.  I have managed to gain 2 pounds in the 2 weeks since my last doctor's appointment for a total of 18 so far.  Feeling pretty good, but more and more tired.  Seem to nod off whenever I get a chance, and when I don't have to go into the office, find myself staying in bed longer and longer in the mornings with Nanea parked next to me watching her shows and eating her breakfast.

Noa has been traveling non-stop the last month and a half it seems.  He was home about a week for his brother's wedding, then off for an around-the-world trip (literally!  home-asia-middle east-europe-east cost-home), he'll be home for 2 days but he has drill, then off for a 4 day trip to Asia.  Hopefully this will be close to the last trip he'll make.  I do not want to have this baby on my own!

Someone asked me if I was in my second trimester this past weekend, which was a nice ego boost since I'm well over a month into my 3rd.  And, lots of people from the wedding told me I'm looking good and not pregnant at all from the back.  Words that a big-bellied pregnant woman loves to hear!  Of course, I know everyone is being nice :).  People said that the last time too (about not looking pregnant from the back), and when seeing pics of myself I know they LIED.  I was large, large, large!

My mom left today after extending her trip a few days after we begged her to.  Nanea misses her Tutu already.  I don't know what we would have done without her the past week and a half!  She is great!  Thank you mom and we love you!
