Smiles all around
Makena is officially smiling now, and we do just about anything to get her to do it. This morning she was so fussy having to lie in her crib all alone while we got ready, and when Noa went over to get her, we got a big toothless grin through all those tears. She has got us both suckered that's for sure!

Head held high
Makena is very strong, and has been holding her head up for short periods of time since she was 2 weeks old. She is getting to the point where she likes to look around all the time, so is not content with laying in her pack-n-play all day since she can't see anything from in there.

Exhausted...
I have pictures, I just can't seem to get the energy to download them, or do dishes, or clean up the general toy mess that seems to never go away in my house. Can you tell Noa is gone again? Makena continues to be a really good baby, but my "big" girl is challenging me and bedtimes are a nightmare. I know it's just a phase...or at least hope it is. Terrible, terrible twos. Makena is 6 weeks and 1 day old. So, yesterday marked our first official day of freedom. We celebrated by staying home :). But today we did it up, and went to the acupuncturist, to fix my aching back and allergies, and to visit Aunty Alice and Aunty Liz. Just quick stops on the way home to introduce her to them. I was rewarded by getting stuck in awful traffic. I'd forgotten what traffic on Friday afternoon could be like. The joys of motherhood...

A nice morning surprise/1 month checkup
After getting the girls dressed this morning, and propping Makena up on a pillow on my bed, I returned to my room after getting myself ready, and happened across this scene:
Nanea had climbed up and lay down next to Makena on the same pillow to play with her. It was too cute!Makena was all dressed up in her new outfit from Aunty Holly for her 1 month checkup (and 2 days, since the 10th was a Sunday, and I refuse to go to the doctor on a Monday when it is crazy busy). For anyone keeping track, she is 9.6 pounds (up 1.3 pounds from her 2 week appointment), 22 inches tall (up 1/2 an inch) and her head measures 37cm (up 3 cm). She is just slightly smaller than her sister at the same age. She had to have 1 shot, and screamed like I've never heard, since she rarely even cries. I felt so bad, but remember Nanea doing the same thing at this first appointment, but subsequent shots weren't so bad. Hopefully Makena follows in those footsteps!

A little tickle under the chin...And note her cute onesie that says, "I woke up on the cute side of the bed." Gotta love BabyGap ! Can't tell I'm a biased mommy or anything, can you?

First Bath
Very delayed, but here are photos from Makena's first bath. Daddy missed it, but Aunty Mikie was there as photographer. Makena did not like it, but she's slowly getting used to it.
