For those of you that don't know, I thought I would explain Makena's name.

'Makena' means "calm of the sea" in Hawaiian. Noa heard this name somewhere and looked it up. We thought that it matched Nanea's name well, and so thought it was a perfect choice. It's actually amazing how once he said it, we knew that this would be her name.

'Anne' means "gracious and merciful." This was 100% completely my name choice. Noa yielded to me on this one. This was a hard choice, and we actually didn't decide until we were literally walking out of the hospital, he wanting a completely different middle name. It was a bit tense to say the least. I picked it in part because Anne of Green Gables was my favorite book growing up, and after the lovely Anne Levin Benedict.
